Fire in Australia: 16,000 hectares of land reduced to ashes
A fire that broke out on Thursday in Australia's Victoria state and remains out of control has destroyed 3 homes and 16,000 hectares of land.
Australia's Victoria state has been unable to bring forest fires that broke out on Thursday under control.
Evacuation warnings were issued for hundreds of people living in the west of the state due to the forest fires, which have also caused the deaths of farm animals.
At least 1,000 firefighters are attempting to intervene in the forest fires with 50 firefighting helicopters, and at least 2,000 people left the areas where they lived on Thursday.
3 HOMES DESTROYED
While approximately 16,000 hectares of land have burned, at least 3 homes have also been destroyed.
TEMPERATURES TO RISE
Authorities in Victoria, which is battling the fires, are concerned about rising temperatures.
With air temperatures expected to rise to 40 degrees on Wednesday, there are fears that the fires in the towns of Beaufort and Elmhurst could spread over a wider area due to strong winds.
In Australia, the forest fires that went down in history as the 'Black Summer' in 2019-2020 destroyed an area the size of Turkey and caused the deaths of 33 people and 3 billion animals.
