Governor's Office and AKOM issue alert for Istanbul! How long will the rainfall last?
The Istanbul Governor's Office and AKOM have called on citizens to be careful and take precautions due to heavy rainfall expected to be effective throughout the week.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected for most of the new week in Istanbul. The Istanbul Governor's Office announced, based on the latest assessments by the General Directorate of Meteorology, that the rainfall will be effective intermittently across the province throughout the week.
In the statement from the Governor's Office, it was noted that the rainfall could be strong at times until Thursday. It was recorded that the wind is expected to blow at moderate speeds from northern directions, and occasionally strongly at speeds of 40-60 kilometers during the rainfall.
The statement included a warning to citizens: "It is kindly requested that you be careful and take precautions against negative conditions such as floods, water inundation, strong winds during rainfall, and disruptions in transportation."
In its assessment for Istanbul, AKOM also reported that the rainfall is expected to spread across the province and increase in intensity starting from 18:00 today. It was stated that the cold and rainy weather will be effective until 20:00 on Wednesday evening.
According to AKOM's current weekly weather forecast report, showers are expected throughout the week in Istanbul, including Sunday. Authorities emphasized the need to be careful, especially in areas at risk of flash flooding and in traffic.
