MGM had warned: Avalanche hits Van
The Van-Çatak and Çatak-Pervari roads were closed to traffic due to avalanches that occurred last night in the Çatak district of Van.
In Van, where adverse weather conditions have been effective for the past two days, an avalanche hit the Çatak road during the night hours.
Highway teams began work in the morning hours on the road, where operations could not be carried out earlier due to the continuing risk of avalanches.
The teams, working to clear the snow accumulation in the area with heavy machinery, aim to reopen the highway to vehicle traffic in a short time.
Police teams have also taken precautions at the exit of the district and are not allowing vehicles to pass to prevent any negative incidents.
