Death toll rises in Los Angeles fire!

Efforts continue to combat the forest fire that began in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles, California, in the U.S. on the morning of January 7 and spread rapidly to the surrounding areas, particularly the Eaton, Hurst, Sunset, and Woodley regions.

According to the latest update from authorities, the number of people who have lost their lives due to the fire has risen to 27.

It was announced that 26 people have been recorded as missing, while 90 thousand people are under evacuation warnings.

The Los Angeles Fire Department announced that the Palisades fire, which has spread over more than 23 thousand acres and destroyed 5 thousand structures, is 22 percent contained.

It was noted that the Eaton fire, which has turned more than 14 thousand acres into ash and destroyed 7 thousand structures, is 55 percent extinguished.

EDUCATION DISRUPTED

Education in the city has been disrupted due to the fires. Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Alberto Carvalho stated in a press release that many schools have burned down or sustained heavy damage.

Stating that education in the city has been significantly disrupted due to the fires, Carvalho noted that the reconstruction of some schools damaged in the fire could take more than 2 years.

Students from some schools that became unusable as a result of the fires have been temporarily transferred to other schools in safe areas.
