Rojin's father speaks out: There were those who wanted to harm Rojin
The lifeless body of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University student Rojin Kabaiş was found on October 15. Her father, Nizamettin Kabaiş, stated that his daughter did not commit suicide, arguing that the dormitory and the university failed to fulfill their responsibilities and that his daughter may have been murdered.
The lifeless body of Rojin Kabaiş, a first-year student in the Child Development Department of the Faculty of Education at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University (YYÜ), who left her dormitory in Van on September 27 and was never heard from again, was found on October 15 by Mehmet Emin Ankay (60) in the rural Mollakasım neighborhood.
According to the autopsy results, the cause of the young woman's death was stated to be drowning. While the investigation into Rojin's death continues, her father, Nizamettin Kabaiş, explained in a video he sent that his daughter would not have committed suicide. Nizamettin Kabaiş, who brought his daughter's belongings from the dormitory to his home, filmed the items spread out in the living room and said that Rojin would not have harmed herself.
'THEY COLLECTED THEM ALL LIKE HAY'
Stating that his daughter was preparing for winter, Kabaiş said, "Look at how many clothes she bought for herself. She made her preparations. She had said, 'Father, Van is cold, it snows a lot, I need to buy a lot of winter clothes.' I told her, 'My daughter, go buy whatever you need.' I haven't even filmed most of her clothes yet because they are women's clothing. I filmed a portion of them. Let the people see how Rojin prepared for winter. From now on, let no one say, 'Rojin harmed herself, she committed suicide.' We had folded them all nicely and packed them into this suitcase. They, however, collected them all like hay without folding them and stuffed them into this suitcase. They didn't even fit in the suitcase, so they stuffed them into two trash bags," he said.
'THEY INFORMED US 17 HOURS LATER'
Kabaiş used the following expressions:
"Let those who slander Rojin see this. The dormitory and the university did not look after my daughter. If they had looked after her, Rojin would be alive today. Because while she was heading toward the shore, she was caught on 3-4 cameras, but the last 2 cameras are missing. She was talking to her roommate, telling her, 'Come toward the shore, bring my charger.' But whatever happened, happened inside the university. While she was being caught on those cameras, what happened to her there in the dark? They took her near that fence, they tampered with the cameras. The last camera is black and white. I keep asking them, why did you tamper with the cameras? What are you adjusting, why did it happen like that? They informed us 17 hours later. My daughter was gone for an entire night. They called the next day toward noon. They asked me; they said maybe she went to a relative's house, I said, 'No, she didn't go, if she had, she would have let us know.'
At the same time, they did not inform the police station either. If they had informed the police station earlier, maybe they could have seen Rojin at night. Rojin already had a phone. It was 11 o'clock; if they had searched for Rojin at 12, maybe they would have found her. Maybe Rojin would be alive today, they did not look after her. And now they are saying, 'Rojin harmed herself, she went to the water, she committed suicide.' No, that is absolutely not the case. Put your hand on your conscience. You did not look after her and now you are slandering Rojin. Rojin will grab you by the collar in the afterlife. There is no salvation for you. You may come out successful with lies in this world, but what will you do in the afterlife? Rojin will stand before you and grab you by the collar. I will file a complaint against those responsible. You lost my daughter, because of you my daughter ended up like this, in this state."
'THEY BEAT MY DAUGHTER AND LEFT HER IN MOLLA KASIM'
Father Kabaiş continued his words as follows:
"They beat my daughter and took her and left her in Molla Kasım. It is impossible for her to have been in the water for 18 days. If she had been in the water for those 18 days, if her body had been there, if there had been bloating, these would all be evidence, they would be visible. We see, we look, there are signs of battery. We are saying it hundreds of times, 'Look, there are signs of battery.' She was found 24 kilometers away after 18 days. Now what should I say, what should I tell; I am crying out, I am begging, I am in rebellion.
There are people who harmed Rojin. They murdered Rojin. Look at the scene, look here. Look at how much the child prepared for herself, she bought everything, she bought winter clothes. She even attended classes for 2 days. Look, here is the course schedule. Her notebooks, her books. You know, they were saying before that 'She read Sait Faik's book.' That book is nowhere to be found either."
