What are spices? Uses of spices
Spices are the general name for food ingredients derived from parts of plants such as roots, leaves, and seeds, which are used either fresh or preserved through processes like drying, grinding, or crushing to add different flavors to dishes. Spices also have numerous areas of use.
Spices give dishes a unique identity specific to the culinary culture they belong to; a dish made from the same basic ingredients takes on a regional character with a spice specific to that area.
