What are the ingredients for mustard sauce, and which dishes is it used in?

Although it is often thought that mustard sauce is only used with fast food-style dishes, its range of use is certainly not limited to that. This delicious sauce has many different uses, from meat dishes to salads.

IN WHICH DISHES IS MUSTARD SAUCE USED?

  • After grinding the seeds in a mill, you can sprinkle them onto dishes as a spice.
  • You can lightly sauté mustard seeds in heated olive oil to let their aroma infuse into the oil, then remove them and continue preparing your dish with the resulting mustard-infused olive oil.
  • You can sprinkle boiled mustard seeds into your salads.
  • You can make a dip by mixing mustard seeds with yogurt.
  • You can boil mustard seeds to make a tea, which you can sweeten with lemon and cinnamon and enjoy.
  • Using a teaspoon of boiled mustard seeds in stuffed vegetables, rice, soups, and meat dishes enhances the flavor of the meal with its distinct aroma and appetizing effect.

MUSTARD SAUCE INGREDIENTS

  • 50 g hot mustard powder (obtained by grinding the seeds of the mustard plant)
  • 120 ml apple or grape vinegar (we prefer apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar

HOW TO MAKE MUSTARD SAUCE:

  • Pour the apple cider vinegar into a bowl.
  • Add the mustard powder, sugar, and salt. Mix all the ingredients together.
  • Once the mixture reaches a creamy or toothpaste-like consistency, transfer it to a clean jar.
  • After closing the lid of the jar tightly, place it in the refrigerator.
  • Waiting for about a week in the refrigerator is sufficient for the mustard to mature and reach its full flavor.
  • If you keep it at room temperature, the maturation time shortens, but you cannot store it for a long time this way.
  • When using the mustard, always take it out with a clean knife and keep the jar lid closed at all times.
  • Otherwise, its flavor may be lost and it may spoil more quickly.
