14 suspects released under judicial control in Halfeti Municipality investigation

A decision for the release of 14 suspects has been issued in the investigation conducted by the Birecik Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the previous administration period of the Halfeti Municipality.

It was stated that some suspects within the scope of the investigation provided statements in order to benefit from effective remorse provisions. Following the detention review conducted by the criminal judgeship of peace, 14 suspects were released under judicial control conditions.

Measures including "house arrest," "signing in," and a "ban on traveling abroad" were applied to the suspects. It was reported that the detention of other suspects, including former AKP Halfeti Mayor Şeref Albayrak, continues.

An operation was carried out on April 24 as part of the investigation into the previous administration period of the Halfeti Municipality. In the investigation conducted on charges of "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes" and "rigging the performance of an act," 29 people, including the former mayor, former municipal council members, municipal staff, and tradespeople, had been arrested.
