It has been alleged that a new search was conducted at the home of businessman Murat Kapki, who is being tried while in custody in the case concerning the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM). The allegation was raised by Kapki's lawyer, Fikret Aras, during the hearing.
Speaking on the 96th day of the trial, which is being held by the Istanbul 33rd High Criminal Court at the Marmara Prison in Silivri, Aras stated that police teams conducted a search at his client's home over the weekend.
The statement came up during the questioning of Ahmet Çiçek. The presiding judge commented on the search allegation, stating, "The search of Murat Kapki's home has no connection to our case file."
HE HAD ANNOUNCED HE RETRACTED HIS STATEMENT
Murat Kapki is being held in custody in the case in which defendants, including IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu, are being tried. During the hearing held in May, Kapki announced that he was retracting the statement he had previously given under the scope of "effective remorse."
