Ataşehir Deputy Mayor Murat Güneş and 4 others arrested
Of the 14 people referred to the courthouse in the operation targeting Ataşehir Municipality, 5 were arrested, while judicial control measures were imposed on 9 others.
Five people, including Ataşehir Deputy Mayor Murat Güneş, who were detained as part of an operation targeting Ataşehir Municipality, have been arrested. Judicial control provisions were ordered for 9 other individuals who were referred to the courthouse in the same case.
Güneş was detained in an operation conducted on Saturday morning. 14 people, including deputy mayors who are also municipal council members, Aytekin Şahin and Ekrem Köse, were taken to the Istanbul Anatolian Courthouse in Kartal this morning following their procedures at the police station.
After the prosecutor's office procedures were completed in the evening, Ataşehir Deputy Mayor Murat Güneş, former Ataşehir Deputy Mayor Leyla Terzi, municipal employee Mustafa Anıl Altan, Ataşehir Municipality Cleaning Services Manager Cihan Karakaş, and Halim Bak were referred to the criminal judgeship of peace. The judgeship issued arrest warrants for these 5 individuals.

The judgeship issued a judicial control decision for 9 people, including Aytekin Şahin and Ekrem Köse.
Murat Güneş had taken office after receiving 22 votes in the deputy mayoral election held on April 30, following the arrest of Ataşehir Mayor Onursal Adıgüzel in an operation conducted approximately 6 months ago. It was stated that Güneş won the election by receiving 8 more votes than his opponent.
