Mustafa Malo, who made headlines at the Yeditepe University Faculty of Law graduation ceremony with a banner featuring the Quranic verse "Be upright as you have been commanded," has been arrested due to his social media posts.
It was stated that an investigation into Malo was conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Press Crimes Investigation Bureau. It was reported that the file includes charges of "insulting the President," as well as "inciting the public to hatred and enmity" and "insulting the Turkish nation, the State of the Republic of Turkey, and the institutions and organs of the state."
Malo, who gave his statement as part of the investigation, was brought before the Istanbul Anatolian 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace on August 19. It was noted that the court determined there was strong suspicion of the crime of "insulting the President."
