Illegal betting operation in 8 provinces: 59 detained

The Ministry of Interior announced that 59 suspects were detained in operations targeting illegal betting crimes, centered in Osmaniye and spanning 8 provinces.

According to the statement made on the ministry's social media account, the operations were carried out under the coordination of the Gendarmerie General Command's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) and Cybercrime Combat Departments, MASAK, and the Düziçi Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Within the scope of the investigation, a money flow of 7 billion TL was detected in the suspects' accounts.

It was determined that the suspects facilitated illegal betting through websites, acted as intermediaries for illegal money transfers, and introduced the proceeds of crime obtained through these methods into the financial system using various techniques.

During the operations, precautionary measures were also applied to assets belonging to the suspects with a total value of 110 million TL. The assets subject to the precautionary order include 11 real estate properties and 61 movable assets.

In the Ministry of Interior's statement, it was emphasized that the fight against cybercrime will continue with determination, and gratitude was expressed to the gendarmerie units, MASAK, the Osmaniye Provincial Gendarmerie Command, and the Düziçi Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for their roles in the operations.
