In Uşak, a lawsuit was filed against former KRT TV Editor-in-Chief Cihan Güner on the allegation of 'identifying a criminal' for reporting on a predator who abused a 2-year-old child.

In the ruling at the Uşak 4th Criminal Court of First Instance, the prosecutor demanded that Cihan Güner be sentenced, but the judge decided to acquit him.

Now, the same prosecutor has requested that the acquittal decision regarding the journalist be overturned.

'I WILL NOT GIVE UP MY LEGAL STRUGGLE'

Explaining what he went through following this development to 12punto, Güner said, "I only did journalism. But at this point, they want me punished. I am officially facing a legal absurdity. I will not give up my rightful legal struggle. I would like to thank everyone who will support me in this process in advance. The decision of the appellate court will be decisive."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Cihan Güner had reported on the predator who abused a 2-year-old child and received a 65.5-year prison sentence. The predator who committed the rape faced up to 60 years in prison and aggravated life imprisonment for the crimes of "qualified sexual abuse," "attempted murder," and "torture." He was sentenced for 3 different crimes.

It was stated that one of the main reasons for the judge's acquittal decision for Cihan Güner in the case heard at the Uşak 4th Criminal Court of First Instance was the citation of precedent cases.

However, the Public Prosecutor handling the case, Kürşat Karahan, requested that the acquittal decision for journalist Cihan Güner be overturned.

Announcing the prosecutor's move, Cihan Güner reacted by saying, "I had been acquitted in the case I was tried in for 4 years for reporting on the predator who molested a 2-year-old child and received a 65-year prison sentence. The prosecutor has taken the acquittal decision to the appellate court. In summary, he is saying that Cihan Güner should be punished. Oh justice, what state are you in?"
