The voting process for the election to determine the new president of the Ankara Bar Association has concluded. According to unofficial results, the candidate of the Democratic Left Lawyers Group, Elçin Özge Şimşek Çağlayan, finished the election in first place.
While the general assembly meetings were held yesterday at the Nazım Hikmet Congress and Art Center, the voting process, which began today at 09:00, ended at 17:00. Following the closing of the ballot boxes, the vote counting process began.
The presidential race featured Lawyer Rights Group Ankara candidate Funda Şahin, Democratic Lawyers Change Group candidate Mehmet Zeki Kaplan, Democratic Left Lawyers Group candidate Elçin Özge Şimşek Çağlayan, and Turkish Nationalist Lawyers Group (TÜMAG) candidate Doğukan Kozan.
According to unofficial results, Elçin Özge Şimşek Çağlayan received 5,848 votes. TÜMAG candidate Doğukan Kozan placed second with 2,997 votes, while Lawyer Rights Group Ankara candidate Funda Şahin received 2,816 votes. The vote count for Democratic Lawyers Change Group candidate Mehmet Zeki Kaplan was 427.
