Agora Meyhanesi in Istanbul's Balat district has closed
The Balat Agora Meyhanesi, located on Vodina Street in Istanbul's Balat district, has closed its doors.
In recent years, another historic venue in Istanbul has been added to the list of those that have closed down.
According to the report by Arif Hür from 12punto.com.tr; following the closure of iconic Istanbul establishments such as Lebon Patisserie, Markiz, and İmroz, the Balat Agora Meyhanesi, which drew attention with its shabby and traditional style and was even the subject of songs, has shut down following a decision made by the property owner.
35 MILLION TL ASKING PRICE
The 3-story building, which has been put up for sale by the property owner, has an asking price of approximately 35 million TL.
THERE ARE TWO TAVERNS WITH THE SAME NAME
On the other hand, there are two 'Agora Meyhanesi' taverns in Balat. The Balat Agora Meyhanesi was opened during the period when the historic Agora Meyhanesi was struggling against urban transformation.
The tavern, whose fame crossed national borders, was among the must-visit spots for both local and foreign tourists.
