Architect Altuğ Çinici has passed away
Renowned architect Altuğ Çinici has passed away in Istanbul. The funeral arrangements for Çinici have been announced.
Altuğ Çinici, one of the architects behind many well-known structures, most notably the METU campus, has passed away at the age of 89.
Together with her husband Behruz Çinici, she was one of the architects of the METU campus, which would go on to receive the Aga Khan Award for Architecture, as well as many other significant buildings.
Altuğ Çinici, who founded Çinici Architecture, was one of the figures who left a mark on 20th-century Turkish architecture.
FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS ANNOUNCED
It has been learned that Altuğ Çinici's funeral will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, following a ceremony at 11:00 AM at the Chamber of Architects Istanbul Metropolitan Branch Karaköy Building, and after the funeral prayer at Teşvikiye Mosque during the noon prayer, she will be laid to rest at Edirnekapı Cemetery.
Her husband, Behruz Çinici, had also passed away in 2011 at the age of 79.
