Aşık Veysel commemorated at his graveside on the 51st anniversary of his death

In the village of Sivrialan, Sivas, a commemoration program was held for folk poet Aşık Veysel Şatıroğlu, who passed away on March 21, 1973, in the house that is now used as a museum, on the 51st anniversary of his death.

The program held at Şatıroğlu's graveside was attended by Sivas Deputy Governor İlhami Doğan, Şarkışla District Governor Samet Öztürk, Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Aziz Erdoğan, Şarkışla Mayor Ahmet Turgay Oğuz, Aşık Veysel's grandchildren Rüstem Şatıroğlu, Cevriye Keçeci, and Sebahattin Şatıroğlu, as well as fellow villagers.

CARNATIONS LEFT ON HIS GRAVE

During the program, prayers were recited for Aşık Veysel, and carnations were left on his grave.

Aşık Veysel's grandson Rüstem Şatıroğlu stated, "Today, we are in his village, on the lands where Aşık Veysel was born, on the anniversary of his reunion with his 'black earth.' I am happy to be here today with you, dear friends, to commemorate my grandfather once again and to be together. Being the grandson of Aşık Veysel and continuing his lineage is something that cannot be described in words, both in terms of the responsibility and the intensity of emotion it carries. To live him, to live by rediscovering him, is a great pride."
