British rock band Wishbone Ash performs at AKM
The long-standing British rock band Wishbone Ash met with their fans at the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM). Vocalist Andy Powell said, "I see both older and younger fans in Istanbul. It is wonderful to bring different generations together."
The band, featuring Andy Powell on vocals and guitar, Mark Abrahams on lead guitar, Rob Skeat on bass guitar, and Mike Truscott on drums, performed at the AKM's Türk Telekom Opera Hall.
Starting the concert with the song "Real Guitars Have Wings," the rock quartet performed beloved tracks such as "We Stand As One," "The King Will Come," "Warrior," "Throw Down The Sword," "The Pilgrim," "Jailbait," and "Sometime World."
In addition to tracks from their old and new albums, the group also played blues musician Jimmy Reed's song "Baby What You Want Me To Do."
'IT IS WONDERFUL TO BRING DIFFERENT GENERATIONS TOGETHER'
Addressing the audience, Powell stated that he felt lucky to have performed in Turkey for two consecutive years, adding, "It is a great pleasure for us to be in Istanbul. I see both older and younger fans here. It is wonderful to bring different generations together."
Powell noted that the song "Phoenix," which they performed toward the end of the concert, covers themes of "rebirth" and "purification," and said, "We dedicate this song to people going through difficult times all over the world."
The concert, which lasted approximately 2 hours, was highly appreciated by Wishbone Ash fans.

ABOUT WISHBONE ASH

In 1969, after manager Miles Copeland led the band to change their name, the group combined the names "Wishbone" and "Ash" to take on their current name.
The band, which last performed in Turkey in Ankara on May 24 of last year, has produced many works including 25 studio albums, 11 live albums, five DVDs, and the rock documentary "This is Wishbone Ash."
