Dilan and Engin Polat's accountant tells all: 'I was threatened'

Following an investigation launched against them on charges of money laundering, tax evasion, and forming a criminal organization, Dilan Polat and Engin Polat along with 12 others, were arrested and sent to prison.

 

Songül K., who handled the accounting for three of the Polat family's companies, Songül K.'s details of her testimony have emerged.

 

Financial Crimes Bureau Songül K., one of the individuals detained in the operation conducted by the, claimed in her police statement that she was directed to handle the accounting for these companies by Lawyer Ahmet Gün. she alleged.

 

Songül K. stated, "I did not know that these belonged to the couple Engin Polat and Dilan Polat. I saw Engin Polat a month ago at the office of the person named Ahmet Gün. However, he prevented me from meeting Engin Polat face-to-face and took me to another room. Turning to me, he said, 'The police might call you to take a statement; we will prepare you on what to say.'"

Explaining that two days after that day, Ahmet Gün called her again and summoned her to the office, Songül K. said, "In his office, he himself, There were employees named Harun and Zümrüt. Addressing me as 'my dear Songül,' they said, 'Let these friends prepare you for a possible statement. Nothing will happen, nothing will come of it, but let's think of the worst-case scenario anyway and know what to say. You are a bit of a cowardly type. Be a monster like our guys. Know your rights and the law. If they ask for your statement in writing, we will send it.' she said.

Songül K. stated that three days after this meeting, Ahmet Gün called her and they met. She said, 'They saw that I was very stressed and anxious, and that the company names of Engin Polat and Dilan Polat were being published in the news, and from these companies' Fekpen, Byzgun and Tekbaşer I explained that I was the consultant for the companies named, and how they threw me into a great fire.

 

Ahmet Gün addressed me, saying, 'I am training you all as famous financial advisors. Don't be afraid, look at the result and do what I say. If you go outside of what I say, you're finished. Besides, Engin Polat and Dilan Polat will shoot an apology video, it will be talked about for a day or two more, and then everything is forgotten in Turkey.' he said.

“He told me to explain my statement as follows: Say that you found me upon the recommendation of a wealthy-looking real estate agent named Murat Akın who lives in Esenyurt and deals in real estate, that he had foreign investors, that they wanted to establish a company in Turkey, and that if there was a ready-made, clean company with no debts, they could buy it, and that if it were transferred, banking transactions could be carried out faster compared to a new establishment.
