The Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the couple Engin and Dilan Polat, along with 24 suspects, on charges of "laundering proceeds of crime, violating the Tax Procedure Law, and violating the law on the regulation of betting and games of chance in football and other sports competitions."

The 12 people referred to the court were arrested and sent to prison.

In her defense in the courtroom, Dilan Polat's lawyer said, "Dilan Polat's father killed her mother. She had a traumatic life. She married Engin Polat when she was 17."

'CONSCIOUSLY EVIL'

Expressing her thoughts on this statement, singer Demet Akalın drew attention by saying, "Stop looking for psychological problems behind everything. Some people are truly consciously evil."

Following the statement by Dilan Polat's lawyer in the courtroom, "Dilan Polat's father killed her mother. She had a traumatic life. She married Engin Polat when she was 17," the murder that took place in Körfez, Kocaeli, on October 8, 2001, came back to the agenda.

RIFAT DOĞU KILLED HIS WIFE WITH A GUN

Dilan Polat's father, Rıfat Doğu, who was alleged to have worked on base stations at the time, killed her mother, Nihal Ayhan Doğu, with a gun.

Participating in a program called Katarsis in recent months, Dilan Polat stated that she was 11 years old during the murder and described the day of the murder as follows:

"My father had a brain tumor. He killed my mother during a seizure. Even though he killed my mother, he is still my father. I love him very much. I don't know why my father killed my mother. I was 11 years old. As far as I remember, my father used to fire his gun into the air after matches. That gun was always in the house. Believe me, I don't know about that night. For this reason, I am very angry with myself.

My mother was lying in blood. I remember Sıla saying to me at that moment, 'Look, that's ketchup.' Every time I see ketchup, it comes to my mind. No one who heard the gunshot came.
