'Eros' name given to Kırklareli Stray Animal Rehabilitation Center
The name of 'Eros', the cat killed at a residential complex in Istanbul's Başakşehir district, will be kept alive at the Kırklareli Stray Animal Rehabilitation Center.
In Başakşehir, the name of 'Eros', a cat killed by İbrahim Keloğlan who lived in the same residential complex, has been given to the Kırklareli Stray Animal Rehabilitation Center.
Kırklareli Mayor Mehmet Siyam Kesimoğlu stated that they renamed the animal shelter to the Kedi Eros Stray Animal Rehabilitation Center to keep the name of the cat 'Eros' alive and to raise awareness about stray animals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The cat named 'Eros', which was cared for at a residential complex in Başakşehir, was kicked to death by İbrahim Keloğlan, who lived in the same complex, on New Year's Eve.
The 1-year-and-3-month prison sentence given to Keloğlan, which was deferred, had been overturned by a higher court.
In the first hearing of the retrial following the overturning of the decision, Keloğlan was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of 'intentionally killing an animal', and a judicial control measure in the form of a travel ban was imposed on him.
