The Musée d'Orsay in Paris, the capital of France, was the scene of a climate activist's protest.

The activist, seeking to draw attention to global warming, glued a poster depicting the landscape that could emerge if the world warms by 4 degrees onto French painter Claude Monet's "Poppy Field" (Coquelicots) painting.

'IF AN ALTERNATIVE IS NOT CREATED...'

The activist, who then glued their hand to the wall and said, "If an alternative is not created, this nightmarish scene awaits us," was taken into custody.

It was learned that there was no protective glass over the painting, which Monet completed in 1873 and depicts people with umbrellas walking through a field of blooming poppies, and the museum has not yet made a statement regarding the matter.

It is not yet known how much damage the painting sustained.

ABOUT THE WORK TITLED POPPY FIELD

Poppy Field is one of the bright and vivid landscape paintings created by Monet during the seven years he lived in the village of Argenteuil near Paris. The painting is divided into two equal parts both horizontally and vertically; on the left side are red poppies, while on the right are human figures, green-yellow grasses, and hills.

Depth in the painting is provided by the ratio of the dark-colored trees in the background to the human figures, and in addition to the light and pastel tones, the red color of the poppies is brought to the foreground. Calmness and peace are at the forefront of the painting.
