Nihal Candan: 'I was praying 7 times a day in prison'
Nihal Candan, who was released from prison after her weight dropped to 37 kilograms, described her experiences in a recent interview. Candan said, "I was praying 7 times a day in prison. I started to take an interest in Sufism."
Social media influencers Nihal and Bahar Candan were imprisoned last November on charges of money laundering and fraud.
However, Nihal Candan began experiencing psychological issues and her weight dropped to 37 kilograms. Diagnosed with a condition called 'anorexia nervosa' due to her disrupted eating habits, Nihal Candan was released.
After her release, Nihal Candan began sharing her experiences and appeared as a guest on a YouTube program.
'I STARTED PRAYING'
Stating that she began praying while in prison, Candan made the following remarks:
"Between those concrete walls, Bahar and I practiced all the meditation techniques we knew. We kept diaries. I never missed the morning prayer anyway. The morning prayer is very valuable to me.
Because there is a hadith in it; 'Prayer is better than sleep.' That is my favorite hadith. I wasn't just praying 7 times a day. I reached 7 times a day in prison. With Tahajjud and supererogatory prayers. I was praying 7 times a day in prison. I tried to instill a bit more Sufism and Rumi consciousness in my sister; that's how I put her to sleep."
