'Fenerbahçe will miraculously become the champion', the words that brought astrologer Meral Güven into the spotlight, led the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to launch an investigation into the posts made on her social media accounts following Galatasaray's championship victory.

The Istanbul Police Department announced that astrologer Meral Güven was detained on charges of 'Inciting the Public to Hatred and Hostility and Insulting'.

'JUDICIAL PROCEEDINGS HAVE BEGUN'

The statement said, "Regarding the video post titled 'Astrologer Meral Güven spewed unspeakable profanities during a live broadcast' on an account within the social media site named X, the individual named Meral Güven, who used profane language, was apprehended at her identified address in accordance with the instructions of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office under the TCK-216 (Inciting the Public to Hatred and Hostility or Insulting) crime, and judicial proceedings have begun."

It was learned that Güven has a criminal record for 2 counts of Threat-Insult, 1 count of Disturbing the Peace and Tranquility of Individuals, 1 count of Intentional Injury, 1 count of Purchasing, Accepting, or Possessing Drugs and Stimulants for Personal Use, and 1 count of Negligent Injury.

The statement of Meral Güven, who was released upon the prosecutor's instruction following police procedures, has emerged. It was learned that Güven stated in her testimony that her account had been hacked.

'MY ACCOUNT WAS HACKED'

In her statement, Güven said, "On 26.05.2024, I received numerous profane messages on my phone. Afterward, they created a WhatsApp group that included my ex-husband. They placed my head on naked bodies and shared the photos there. Then my ex-husband called and said he would take my 14-year-old child away from me after this scandal. I panicked a lot. I had a panic attack. I took medication and then I drank alcohol. During this time, I received threatening messages from my ex-husband and many social media users. Then my social media account was hacked. Later, I recovered my account.

After I got my account back, I saw the posts. I did not direct my profane posts to the general public; I directed them at the people who hacked my account. However, because my videos were edited, people perceived it as if I had addressed the general public. I used profanity under the influence of the medication I took and alcohol. I regret it," she said.

WHO IS MERAL GÜVEN?

Astrologer Meral Güven was born in Kayseri on April 5, 1984. Güven claimed that she has had the ability to perform astrological readings since she was 12 years old and that she could even see different entities since she was 7.

Güven, who has been professionally involved in initiation for about 18 years, had previously made a name for herself with her statements regarding the 2023 Presidential elections.
