Nemo, who took first place, stated, "I hope this contest lives up to its promise and continues to stand for peace."

Speaking to Aramızda Kalmasın, Athena lead singer Gökhan Özoğuz supported their colleague Nemo with the following words:

"The reaction to the skirt is meaningless. There are some men who feel like women. There are some women who feel like men. We are not there. Turkey is in a very different place."

WHO IS NEMO?

Nemo Mettler (born August 3, 1999), known simply as Nemo, is a Swiss singer. They represented Switzerland at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "The Code" and finished first with 591 points.

Nemo's 2015 EP, Clownfisch, reached number 95 on the Swiss charts. They also released a single titled "Du," which reached number 4 in Switzerland. In the second season of The Masked Singer Switzerland in 2021/2022, Nemo's mask was a panda, and they finished the competition in fifth place.

On February 29, 2024, Nemo was announced as the person who would represent Switzerland at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "The Code," and they performed in the second semi-final of the contest on May 9.

They won the Eurovision final on May 11 with 591 points.

NEMO'S PERSONAL LIFE

In November 2023, Nemo identified as non-binary in an article in the SonntagsZeitung.

In this article, Nemo also stated that they prefer to be referred to by their name instead of pronouns in German, and that they use they/them pronouns in English.
