TGC announces: Ergun Hiçyılmaz has passed away
The Journalists Association of Turkey announced that journalist and author Ergun Hiçyılmaz has passed away.
Journalist and author Ergun Hiçyılmaz (80), also known for his work as a writer and documentarian, passed away today.
The Journalists Association of Turkey (TGC) announced the news of Hiçyılmaz's death with the following statement:
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of our member Ergun Hiçyılmaz, who served the journalism profession successfully for many years. We extend our condolences to our colleague's family and our press community."
WHO IS ERGUN HİÇYILMAZ?
Ergun Hiçyılmaz (b. 1942; Eskişehir, Turkey) was a Turkish author, journalist, and historical researcher.
Born in Eskişehir in 1942, Ergun Hiçyılmaz began his journalism career after the 1960 coup. He worked for Akşam, Yeni Sabah, Yeni İstanbul, Günaydın, Fotospor, Tercüman, Güneş, Nokta, Yankı, and Hürgün. He also worked as a second-hand bookseller in the Avrupa Pasajı for many years.
Ergun Hiçyılmaz passed away on February 12, 2024.
