Up to 3 years in prison sought for Mabel Matiz

The investigation into singer Fatih Karaca, known by his stage name Mabel Matiz, regarding his song "Ha Leylim" has been completed. The indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office seeks a prison sentence for Karaca.

The indictment states that the lyrics of the song, which was released on digital platforms, and the images in the music video were evaluated together. It was noted that in some parts of the video, a man in a groom's role and another man with blonde hair wearing a yellow suit are seen dancing together.

In its assessment, the prosecution alleged that the dance and movements in the video became the main theme of the visuals. It was claimed that the song lyrics and visual elements are not independent of each other and that the auditory and visual narrative should be considered as a whole.

The indictment argued that these elements "push the boundaries accepted regarding the general morality of society." It was requested that Karaca be punished on charges of "publishing or mediating the publication of obscene images, writings, or words through the press and media."

The sentence range requested in the prepared indictment is 6 months to 3 years in prison. The process will continue with the court's evaluation of the indictment.
