US actor Charles Dierkop has passed away
Actor Charles Dierkop, known for productions such as 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' and 'Maverick', has passed away.
Actor Charles Dierkop, who played the outlaw George 'Flat Nose' Curry in the cult western film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, has passed away at the age of 87.
The news of the actor's death was confirmed by his family.
It was stated that Dierkop had recently suffered a heart attack, subsequently developed pneumonia, and passed away at Sherman Oaks Hospital.
WHO IS CHARLES DIERKOP?
Dierkop, who broke his nose in childhood, was chosen for this reason to play the outlaw George 'Flat Nose' Curry in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Born in Wisconsin in 1936, the actor joined the US Army in the mid-1950s and later received acting training after returning to civilian life.
In his career, which began with a role in an episode of the crime series Naked City in 1960, he appeared in the 1961 science fiction film Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
After starring alongside Rod Steiger in the 1964 film The Pawnbroker, he also appeared in Roger Corman's The St. Valentine's Day Massacre. In the cult horror film Silent Night, Deadly Night, he portrayed the murderous Santa Claus character.
On television, he appeared in series such as Police Woman, The Andy Griffith Show, Star Trek, Bonanza, Mission: Impossible, Kung Fu, Batman, Gunsmoke, Fantasy Island, ER, and MacGyver.
He last appeared in the 2018 production Heaven and Hell.
