US actor Paul D’Amato has passed away
US actor Paul D’Amato, who served as the inspiration for the X-Men character Wolverine, has passed away in East Brookfield.
It was stated that television and film actor Paul D'Amato died due to a brain disease he had been battling for 4 months.
WHO IS PAUL D'AMATO?
D’Amato is remembered for his role as a Vietnam veteran in the 1978 film The Deer Hunter, in which he starred alongside Robert De Niro.
He also brought various characters to life in the TV series Law & Order.
Among his highly acclaimed films was the 1977 ice hockey comedy-drama Slap Shot. In the film, he played the role of Tim 'Dr. Hook' McCracken.
When the Wolverine character was being created for the X-Men comic book, D’Amato’s gaze served as the inspiration.
