WHO IS SAFFET SANCAKLI?

Saffet Sancaklı was born on February 27, 1966, in Tutin. His father's name is Zekeriya and his mother's name is Canan. He immigrated to Turkey in 1968. He completed his primary education at Cemal Gürsel Primary School in Gaziosmanpaşa, Istanbul, and then finished middle and high school at Vefa Poyraz High School. He was accepted into the Business Administration Department at Anadolu University, but his university education was interrupted due to his football career at the Beşiktaş football club.

In 2009, he took the university entrance exam again and was accepted into the Public Administration department at Anadolu University. Saffet Sancaklı, who was a candidate for nomination from the MHP in the 2007 General Elections, entered active politics within the ranks of the MHP on January 28, 2011, with a ceremony attended by Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli.

On April 11, 2011, his candidacy for deputy from Istanbul's 2nd District, 5th place, was officially announced. However, he was not elected as a deputy in the June 12, 2011, general elections. He was a candidate for the MHP Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor in the 2014 Local Elections but was not elected. He was elected as a member of the Central Executive Committee (MYK) at the 10th and 11th Ordinary Grand Congresses of the MHP held on November 4, 2012, and March 21, 2015. In the June 2015 Turkish general elections, he was nominated as the 1st place deputy candidate for the MHP from Kocaeli and was elected.

As a result of the repetition of these elections, he was nominated again by the MHP in the November 2015 Turkish general elections and was re-elected.

Saffet Sancaklı resigned from his position as MHP Kocaeli deputy in December 2023.
