Yeşilçam master Sevda Ferdağ laid to rest

Sevda Ferdağ, one of the veteran actresses of Yeşilçam, has passed away at the age of 81. The master artist, whose real name was Lütfiye Dumrul, was laid to rest at the Kuruçeşme Cemetery following a funeral prayer held yesterday at the Zincirlikuyu Mosque.

Yeşilçam master Sevda Ferdağ laid to rest

Sevda Ferdağ, who starred in approximately 150 films and series, most notably 'Kapıcılar Kralı' (The King of Doormen), has passed away at the age of 82 after losing her long battle with cancer.

A funeral ceremony was held for the famous actress at the Zincirlikuyu Mosque.

The ceremony, where her nephew Beklan Dumrul accepted condolences, was attended by numerous actors and family friends, including General Manager of State Theaters Tamer Karadağlı, Serdar Gökhan, Nilüfer Aydan, Nur Sürer, Halil Ergün, Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan, Nuri Alço, Hatice Aslan, Kerem Alışık, Sibel Turnagöl, and Ayçin Tuyun.

'WE ARE DIMINISHING EVERY DAY'

General Manager of State Theaters Tamer Karadağlı expressed his deep sadness, stating, "She was a valuable artist and we are very sad. I am here on behalf of both my ministry and the state theaters. We are very sad; we are diminishing every day."

WHO IS SEVDA FERDAĞ?

After the failure of her first film in 1958, Ferdağ moved to Germany, but returned to Turkey at her sister's insistence to pursue a career in cinema once again.

Receiving unexpected attention with the film "Azrailin Habercisi" (Messenger of the Angel of Death), the artist appeared in many films in succession, often in femme fatale roles. Playing lead roles in salon comedies and so-called "soap bubble" films, and supporting roles in more permanent works,

Sevda Ferdağ took to the stage to sing in 1968 to make a living during a period when interest in Turkish films was declining. Ferdağ was a cinema laborer who acted in over 150 motion pictures.

Sevda Ferdağ passed away on February 17, 2024.
