3-story abandoned building collapses in Fatih: 1 injured
A 3-story abandoned building has collapsed in Fatih. One person passing by was slightly injured during the collapse, and fire and AFAD teams were dispatched to the scene.
According to the information obtained, the incident occurred on Büyükkaraman Street in the Zeyrek neighborhood of Fatih. The 3-story abandoned building located on the street collapsed at around 23:00.
One person passing by the scene was slightly injured, and damage also occurred to the building adjacent to the collapsed structure. Numerous fire, AFAD, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. The slightly injured citizen was treated by medical teams in an ambulance.
While extensive security measures were taken in the area by the police, AFAD teams initiated search and rescue operations in the rubble as a precaution. It was learned that the operations, which include the use of search dogs, are ongoing.

"SLIGHTLY INJURED"
In a statement regarding the incident, the Istanbul Governor's Office said, “On Thursday, September 12, at approximately 23:10, a 3-story abandoned building collapsed in the Zeyrek neighborhood of Fatih district.

One of our citizens who was passing by was slightly injured in the incident. According to initial assessments, there is no one trapped under the empty building, but the teams' work at the scene continues,” the statement read.
