30 irregular migrants rescued off the coast of Bodrum
A rubber boat carrying irregular migrants off the coast of Bodrum, Muğla, began taking on water and faced the danger of sinking. A total of 30 irregular migrants were rescued in the incident, including 5 who were found on the sea surface.
According to the information obtained, a rubber boat carrying a group of irregular migrants off the coast of Bodrum began taking on water and faced the danger of sinking.
Upon the irregular migrants' request for assistance, 2 Coast Guard boats were dispatched to the area. As a result of the search and rescue operations initiated by the Coast Guard units that arrived at the scene, 25 irregular migrants were rescued from the fiber-hulled rubber boat.
Additionally, 5 irregular migrants were rescued alive from the sea surface. The 30 people, including 4 children, were taken onto the boat and brought to the port.
One suspect for migrant smuggling was also apprehended in the incident.
The rescued irregular migrants were handed over to the Muğla Provincial Directorate of Migration Management. Judicial proceedings have been initiated regarding the detained suspect.
