Allegations that Indian security forces opened fire on civilians at the Pakistan border

It has been alleged that Indian security forces opened fire on Pakistani civilians at the Pakistan-India border.

In a statement from Pakistani security sources, it was noted that 2 people lost their lives and 1 person was injured in the incident, which occurred near the city of Kasur in the country's Punjab province.

Sources alleged that 3 unarmed civilians from the local Ladhar village had stepped a few paces beyond a pole in the border region and that Indian Border Security forces opened fire on these individuals without any warning. It was stated that the civilians were not attempting to cross the border fence. Sources identified the deceased as Mohsin Jutt and Azmat Rasool.

A different claim came from the Indian side. Reports in the country's media, citing Indian security sources, alleged that the individuals shot were suspects attempting to cross the border illegally.

Allegations yesterday that a former Pakistani soldier was killed

The incident follows the Pakistani military's accusation yesterday that India was carrying out a false flag operation. Indian security sources alleged that a person who had previously served as a commando in the Pakistani army had illegally crossed the border in the Indian-controlled parts of the Jammu and Kashmir region, where a border dispute exists between the two countries, and was killed as a result of intervention by security forces. The identity of the person killed was announced as Havildar Muhammad Asif.

Following the allegations, Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of the Pakistan Army, Ahmed Sharif Chaudry, stated that the identification in question did not reflect the facts. Chaudry presented Asif to the national press to prove that the retired soldier was innocent. Asif announced that he was alive and in Pakistan.
