Workers at an earthquake housing construction site in Dulkadiroğlu, Kahramanmaraş, claim they have not been paid for approximately three months.
Workers employed at the earthquake housing project under construction in the Doğukent district of Kahramanmaraş’s Dulkadiroğlu district have reacted to the situation, claiming they have not received their salaries for approximately three months.
The workers at the site stated that their financial difficulties are increasing and that they are trying to survive with credit card and overdraft debts. One worker described their situation by saying, "Should I take bread home to my family, or should I pay interest?"
Another worker, who stated that they have been working at the same site for five months, expressed that they cannot find a clear point of contact regarding wage payments. The worker noted that they had previously spoken with the project manager but were constantly given new dates, adding, "None of the workers here have received proper wage payments for three months."
The workers also expressed that they are struggling to cover educational expenses with the start of the school year approaching. One worker pointed to the expenses of their children attending high school, middle school, and university, stating that the costs of uniforms, shoes, and winter clothing will make things even more difficult for them.
