Man shoots and wounds wife during divorce proceedings on the street in Konya

An investigation has been launched into a suspect who shot and wounded his wife, with whom he is in the process of divorcing, on the street in the central Selçuklu district of Konya.

The incident occurred in the evening hours on Tören Street in the Yazır neighborhood. According to the information obtained, 55-year-old İ.E. went to the home of his wife, 50-year-old V.E., who is in the process of divorcing him. Unable to find his wife at home, İ.E. encountered V.E. on the street as he was leaving the building.

It was reported that an argument between the two escalated into a fight, during which İ.E. opened fire with a handgun he had with him, wounding V.E. Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

Following the initial intervention by medical teams at the scene, the wounded woman was taken by ambulance to the Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine Hospital, where she was placed under treatment.

It is alleged that the couple has two children and that one of the children was present at the scene when the mother was shot. The police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
