Paragliding accident in Ölüdeniz: 2 dead
Pilot Ali Kıdıl and Chinese tourist Xiangrui Meng, who took off from Babadağ in Fethiye for a tandem flight, lost their lives after crashing into a rocky area.
A paragliding accident occurred in the Ölüdeniz neighborhood of Fethiye district in Muğla. Pilot Ali Kıdıl and Chinese tourist Xiangrui Meng, who took off from the runway at an altitude of approximately 1900 meters on Babadağ for a tandem flight, crashed into a rocky area shortly after takeoff for reasons yet to be determined.
Following the accident, UMKE and Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK) teams were dispatched to the area. The teams, who had difficulty reaching the scene due to the steep and rocky terrain, carried out an operation that lasted approximately 8 hours.

At the end of the efforts, the lifeless bodies of Kıdıl and Meng were reached. The bodies of the two individuals were retrieved from the location by helicopter and taken to the Fethiye State Hospital morgue.

An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the accident. Authorities are expected to conduct a technical assessment regarding the accident process, including the moment of takeoff and weather conditions.
