In the Bahçelievler district of Istanbul, the retaining wall of an adjacent 5-story apartment building collapsed during foundation excavation work carried out as part of urban transformation projects.
The incident occurred around 13:00 on Erde Street in the Merkez neighborhood of Bahçelievler. According to allegations, the retaining wall of the neighboring apartment building collapsed during foundation excavation at a site where a building had been demolished for urban transformation.
The collapse also caused damage to the apartment building's stairs. Upon notification, fire department and municipal teams were dispatched to the area.
As a security precaution, entry and exit to the building were halted for a period. Following an inspection by the teams, residents were allowed to enter and exit the building in a controlled manner.
It was reported that there were no deaths or injuries in the incident. An investigation into the cause of the collapse has been initiated.
