Retired imam who rushed to help drowning people dies by drowning
Retired imam Yılmaz Çiftçi, who rushed to help people in danger of drowning at Bartın İnkumu Beach, lost his life by drowning.
According to the information received, 3 people who entered the sea at İnkumu Beach were in danger of drowning.
Lifeguards and 58-year-old retired imam Yılmaz Çiftçi, who saw the individuals being swept away by the waves, jumped into the water to help. After struggling with the waves for a while, Çiftçi disappeared from sight.
Lifeguards pulled the 3 people and Yılmaz Çiftçi out of the water.
The retired imam, who was found unconscious, was taken to Bartın State Hospital. Despite all interventions, Çiftçi could not be saved. It was reported that the health status of the 3 rescued individuals is good.
It was learned that Çiftçi's body will be handed over to his family following the autopsy and burial procedures.
