TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan: 'The resistance of the peoples will thwart the plans of imperialism'

Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) General Secretary Kemal Okuyan evaluated the latest developments in Syria at an event held today at the Ankara Sokullu Neighborhood House. The subject of the event, which was initially planned under the title "Being a Communist in the 1920s," was changed due to critical developments that occurred during the day. Okuyan comprehensively addressed the dynamics of imperialist attacks in the region and the stance that must be taken against these attacks.

Okuyan began his speech by emphasizing that the effects of the October Revolution on the world still persist, but that there is an imperialist order trying to erase these traces. Stating that the latest move of this order is shaped within the framework of the "Give Syria, take Ukraine" plan, Okuyan pointed out that this plan is connected to political developments in Turkey. 

"As the Communist Party of Turkey, we have long been pointing out that preparations for this plan were underway," said Okuyan, expressing that the developments in the region reveal the complex plans of imperialism.

RUSSIA'S RETREAT AND THE US'S MOVES 

Okuyan stated that the Biden administration dealt a heavy blow to Russia via Syria before the process in which Russia sought a solution on the Ukrainian front during the Trump era had even begun. Expressing that Russia has seriously lost its influence in the Middle East with this intervention, Okuyan said, "Today, it is clear that Russia's credibility outside the former Soviet geography has diminished." 

Kemal Okuyan said that imperialist plans included keeping Assad in office for a certain period under the name of a "soft transition" and then handing over the transition process to forces called the opposition, but that this scenario has collapsed. "Assad stated that he would not be a part of this game and stepped out of the process," said Okuyan, emphasizing that the developments cannot be evaluated independently of this picture. Stating that the winners are the US, Israel, and Neo-Ottomanism, Okuyan said, "For now, we can say the winners are the US, Israel, and Neo-Ottomanism. Iran and Russia are among the losers."

IRAN'S RETREAT AND THE AXIS OF RESISTANCE 

Expressing that Iran has received a serious blow with the latest developments in the Middle East, Okuyan said, "The Iran-Syria-Lebanon line has collapsed. While Iran's presence in Syria is being liquidated, the connection between Lebanon and Syria is completely severed." He added that discussions evaluating this situation as the result of a deception carried out through Hakan Fidan have come to the agenda in Iran.

KURDS IN THE REGION 

Kemal Okuyan emphasized that approaches trying to solve the problems in the region by blaming the Kurdish people are wrong. "The relations of the PYD or PKK with Israel and the US can be criticized, but blaming the entire Kurdish people through these relations is unacceptable," he said. Furthermore, drawing attention to the role of the AKP government, which cooperates with the US and Israel, in this process, he stated that one must stand against manipulations that will harm the brotherhood of peoples.

'WE MUST BE VIGILANT AGAINST IMPERIALISM'S COLLABORATORS WITHIN'

TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan also drew attention to the "5th column" activities of imperialism in his speech at the Ankara Sokullu Neighborhood House. Okuyan stated that imperialist powers weaken countries not only from the outside but also with the support of the domestic capitalist class.

"The activities we call the 5th column directly target the interests of the people through the domestic capitalist class acting as subcontractors for imperialism. These policies, which are decorated with 'domestic and national' rhetoric today, are in reality the work of collaborator centers that put the plans of imperialist powers in the Middle East into practice. A strong class struggle must be waged against this mechanism that works to divide the people, break the resistance, and impose the interests of imperialism," said Okuyan, emphasizing that one must be vigilant against these activities.

Stating that the only way for the people to fight against the internal supporters of imperialism is to organize, Okuyan called, "To win the future of the country, we must unmask the capitalist class and increase the organized power of the people."

'TO DISMISS THE RESISTANCE AS ISRAEL'S PLAN IS IGNORANCE'

Touching upon the events in Palestine on October 7, 2023, and Hamas's resistance against Israel, Okuyan warned against the manipulation of Israel's efforts to expand its operations in the Middle East through Hamas's role in this process.

"Hamas's actions on October 7 are being tried to be shown as part of the imperialist plans in the region. This is an effort to distort the truth and discredit the resisting peoples. Like everyone else, the Palestinians saw the redesign efforts of Israel and the US in the region and tried to take a step against it. However, they did not have enough breath and paid heavy prices," said Okuyan, expressing that dismissing this resistance and discrediting it by saying "it was Israel's plan" is ignorance.

Pointing out that resistance leaders lost their lives while fighting with honor, Okuyan said, "One must respect the people who died while resisting and fought with honor against Israeli collaborators and imperialism. To dismiss this struggle is to play into the hands of those who want to break the resistance."

The TKP General Secretary, reminding that Israel plays an active role in imperialist operations in the Middle East, stated, "We must grow the resistance against Israel's efforts to take the entire region under control. We must also expose the collaborators in this process. To portray the struggle of Hamas and Hezbollah as an Israeli plan is to strike a blow to the hopes of freedom of the peoples in the region." 

Finally, drawing attention to the importance of resistance, Okuyan emphasized that imperialism's calculations on the Middle East can be thwarted by the joint struggle of the peoples.

'WE MUST ORGANIZE NOT TO FEAR AND TO WIN'

TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan emphasized the importance of organizing in his speech in Ankara. Expressing that the only way out for the people against the attacks of imperialist plans and the domestic collaborator capitalist class is organized struggle, Okuyan said, "We have no choice but not to fear and to win this country."

Okuyan made the following call in his speech: 

"Today, our people are being dragged into a vortex of hopelessness and apoliticism. Yet, the only way to get out of this darkness is to organize. Organizing is not only gaining power, but also opening the mind, finding morale, and taking ownership of the country's future. If we do not show resistance against this order, we will surrender this country to darkness. But we will not surrender. As the TKP, we will continue to organize the people everywhere, under all conditions."

Okuyan, stating that organizing is not only a necessity but also a requirement, said, "This call is not only a call of today, but of our future. We must be brave. We must grow hope and raise this country to its feet."
