Abdülkadir Selvi reveals: Erdoğan is uncomfortable with the oath at the Military Academy graduation

Hürriyet newspaper columnist Abdulkadir Selvi described the act of some of the graduating lieutenants chanting "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal" at the Military Academy graduation ceremony as a "pirate oath" and argued that this situation casts a shadow over the achievements of the Turkish army.

In his column, Selvi stated that 980 lieutenants graduated from the Military Academy and that approximately 200-250 of them raised their swords and chanted this slogan under the leadership of the class valedictorian, asking, "So, are the remaining 750 lieutenants not soldiers of Mustafa Kemal? Are their commanders not soldiers of Mustafa Kemal?"

ERDOĞAN IS UNCOMFORTABLE

Claiming that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is also uncomfortable with these events, Selvi included the following remarks: "The Turkish army deserves to be discussed and applauded for its successes. But these kinds of actions, which reflect the spirit of periods of military tutelage, cast a shadow over these successes."
