Ağbaba's 600 million mansion claim: Osman Gökçek did not deny it

CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba brought striking corruption allegations against the AKP's Gökçek family back to the agenda during the 2025 Budget negotiations in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). Ağbaba claimed that Osman Gökçek, an AKP Ankara Deputy and son of the dismissed former Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Melih Gökçek, owns a 14,000-square-meter mansion worth 600 million liras.

'ONLY THREE TYPES OF PEOPLE IN THE WORLD WOULD BUILD THIS MANSION'

In his speech, Ağbaba stated the following:

"Take a look at Osman Gökçek's mansion. Only three types of people in the world would build this mansion: 1- Drug lords in Colombia, 2- Arab sheikhs, 3- Thieves. Why would a single man build a 250-square-meter indoor pool, a 160-square-meter living room, and a 110-square-meter entertainment room? Is he building an entertainment room because his father didn't take him to the dinosaur park? The value of this house is 600 million liras, dear friends."

GÖKÇEK DID NOT DENY IT

Osman Gökçek took the floor based on the TBMM Rules of Procedure, citing a personal attack. Confirming the claim about the mansion, Gökçek stated that he had declared his assets. However, he did not deny the claim that the mansion is worth 600 million liras. Instead, Gökçek chose to make allegations against Veli Ağbaba.

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir joined the debate and responded to Osman Gökçek. Emir criticized Gökçek for leaving the allegations unanswered and for his silence regarding the value.

Gökçek's speech was as follows:

"I took the podium following the words spoken by Veli Ağbaba regarding an asset I have already stated in my own asset declaration today."

"Of course, I would like to remind Veli Ağbaba of a few things first. He specifically mentioned our martyrs' families. Remember, PYD terrorist Özge Aydın had come to the parliamentary podium. She was handcuffed. Later, she was killed by the PYD."

"Even her family did not want to accept her back to Turkey. The defender of this person was Veli Ağbaba. Secondly, in the 2013 Detained Journalists Report, the terrorist Dilşah Ercan, who used herself as a suicide bomber in the Mersin attack, was one of the names mentioned in Mr. Veli Ağbaba's report. In other words, Veli Ağbaba has shown that he is actually a terrorist defender and a terrorist whitewasher. Furthermore, I wish he were here so I could ask him this question: There was a Kale District Head in Malatya. As you know, this district head is currently under arrest for raping a 16-year-old girl. The person who defended, or rather provided a reference for, the person who raped this girl was Mr. Veli Ağbaba. Thirdly, I would like to say that he is making corruption allegations against us here. His own brother, Hür Ağbaba, was caught while trying to secure a 150 million lira plot of land for himself for 8 million liras, which had been granted to him by the SGK, and the tender was cancelled. So, when you look at it, Veli Ağbaba made some accusations against me here a moment ago, but if we look for defenders of rapists, his reference appears. If we look for defenders of PKK members, his reference appears. When we look for people involved in corruption, his own brother appears."

MURAT EMIR RESPONDED TO THE ALLEGATIONS! "EVERY SINGLE PENNY WILL BE EXTRACTED FROM YOU"

CHP's Murat Emir, who took the podium to respond after Gökçek:

He requested the floor regarding the allegations. Of course, it is his right. It is his right to respond to the accusations made against him from this podium.

"But he did not provide any answer regarding his own situation in two minutes here. He probably cannot, he cannot explain it, and he points us to the prosecutor's office as an address. Look, of course we go to the prosecutor's office in Turkey, of course legal investigations are conducted, but Mr. Gökçek, you should also know that over a hundred files regarding your father's era have been waiting on the shelves of the Ministry of Interior for years and have gathered dust. Therefore, these prosecutor's offices will begin their duties, do not worry.

Every single penny will be extracted from you, but for that, we really have to wait for the days when there will be a fair trial in Turkey. Now, I know some of the allegations you made, let me answer them."

"A medical student comes due to a problem with their school, due to their involvement in a protest, or for some other reason, and a group of students comes, and Veli Ağbaba holds a press conference with them, doing his job. But that person becomes a terrorist years later."

"Look, you cannot know this. Plus, for example, you talk about reports, you talk about being a lawyer for a rapist; these are not things that can happen. Let the slander you throw have some basis in reason and logic. Look, when you say rape, that is where the prosecutor's office gets involved. In which prosecutor's office, while a rapist is being tried, let alone Veli Ağbaba—Veli Ağbaba would never do such a thing, nor would he—but which CHP member would stand behind this? Which human being would stand behind this, friends? So, let there be some reason and conscience in what you say. Therefore, if you have an answer regarding the allegations against you, come and speak."
