AKP reacts to DEM's Cengiz Çandar's 'If you don't like it, the mountains are waiting for you': 'DEM must lay down its arms just as much as the PKK terrorist organization'

The remarks made by DEM Party's Cengiz Çandar during discussions on the peace process have drawn a reaction from former AKP MKYK member Şamil Tayyar.

AKP reacts to DEM's Cengiz Çandar's 'If you don't like it, the mountains are waiting for you': 'DEM must lay down its arms just as much as the PKK terrorist organization'

The remarks by DEM Party Diyarbakır MP Cengiz Çandar regarding the framework law brought to the agenda as part of the second resolution process conducted under the name "Terror-Free Turkey" have sparked debate in politics.

Speaking to Ruşen Çakır, Çandar stated that the framework law covers "those in the mountains, those in prison due to allegations of affiliation with the PKK and membership in the organization, and those in exile abroad for the same reasons," adding that this includes "the integration of thousands of people who could be described under the PKK umbrella, and the suspension of their sentences."

Stating that the terrorist organization PKK has a leader in İmralı and management cadres in Qandil, Çandar said, "If they say 'okay,' the matter is finished," and noted the following:

"What are you objecting to, what is going on? There is an absurd objection coming from the Turkish nationalist side, claiming the country is being divided, which has nothing to do with the content of the law or the situation. There are some from Kurdish circles and some from Turkish intellectual circles saying 'what kind of thing is this, I mean the Kurds, what did they gain, can it be like this'... My brother, this is a legal regulation for the disappearance of an organization. The leader of the organization says okay, the executives say okay. What is happening to you then? If you don't like it, the mountains are waiting for you. Go ahead, go out, do whatever you are going to do."

— Cengiz Çandar

Former AKP MKYK member Şamil Tayyar reacted to these words of Çandar on his social media account. Tayyar emphasized that Çandar's expressions were "provocative" and "smelled of heavy provocation," and stated that the DEM Party generally uses a "divisive language."

Here is the post Tayyar made from his X account:

"The most difficult stage of the process is just beginning.

For success, DEM must lay down its arms just as much as the PKK terrorist organization.

For example.

DEM's Cengiz Çandar's remark 'those who don't like it should go to the mountains' is provocative and smells of heavy provocation.

There is a world of difference between the statements of DEM's Pervin Buldan and the information note from the AK Party Headquarters.

While the AK Party takes care to conduct the process with common sense, DEM uses a divisive language in 'host' mode.

My personal opinion;

A common language and style should be established in the process.

I see benefit in not making any announcements other than by the representatives of the two boards centered in the Presidential Complex and the TBMM.

Otherwise, the probability of the process becoming infected increases and the political cost will be heavy."

Çandar was among the prominent figures of the "Not Enough, But Yes" campaign conducted by liberal circles in the September 12, 2010 constitutional referendum.
