Bahadır Erdem evaluates Erdoğan's 50+1 remarks

Former İYİ Party Deputy Chairman Bahadır Erdem had stated that the reason for his resignation from the party was his belief that "cities like Istanbul and Ankara should not be lost, and that they should remain entirely in the opposition."

Although he has resigned from his party, Erdem continues to comment on agenda-setting issues, and this time he made a striking remark regarding Erdoğan's 50+1 statement.

WHAT DID ERDOĞAN SAY?

President Erdoğan had stated, "It would be appropriate. If the candidate who receives the majority is elected, the presidential election would be quick, it wouldn't be a hassle, and it wouldn't lead to wrong paths. The current 50+1 requirement leads parties down wrong paths. You don't know whose hand is in whose pocket. There's the six-party table, the sixteen-party table..."

STRIKING COMMENTARY FROM ERDEM

Commenting on this statement by Erdoğan via a social media post, Erdem used the following expressions:

"The AKP and the President want to change the 50+1 rule as well. Except for the MHP, they will receive support from the opposition who want to stand by the AKP. Once they do this, it's all over.

What a struggle this country has had, my brother. What a troubled nation this nation is. Give, give, give, and it's still not enough.

What this nation has given is not enough for either the AKP or its supporters.

I am saying it here: whoever enters into the business of changing the Constitution with the AKP, know that they are serving themselves, not this nation."
