Balance of power shifts in the Grand National Assembly: CHP falls to 5th place

Political balances in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) have changed significantly following the departure of Özgür Özel and 91 deputies from the Republican People's Party (CHP) to form the YENİ Party.

With the completion of official establishment procedures, the number of CHP deputies has dropped from 135 to 44. The YENİ Party, meanwhile, has taken its place in parliament with 91 deputies, rising to become Turkey's second-largest political party and assuming the role of main opposition.

According to the new landscape in parliament, the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) continues to be the largest group with 277 deputies. The DEM Party is represented with 56, the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) with 46, the CHP with 44, the IYI Party with 29, and the New Path Party with 20 deputies.

In addition to this, there are 11 independent deputies in parliament. HÜDA PAR and the New Welfare Party have four deputies each, the Workers' Party of Turkey has 3, and the Democratic Regions Party and the Labour Party have two deputies each. The Felicity Party, the Democratic Left Party, and the Democrat Party are each represented in the TBMM with one deputy.
