The CHP has referred Berhan Şimşek, who was expected to make a statement alongside Gürsel Tekin—recently appointed as a trustee to the Istanbul Provincial administration—to the disciplinary board with a request for his expulsion from the party.

Şimşek shared the referral petition sent to him on his X account and added the following note:

"Dear friends, I am sharing with you the medal of honor given to me by the administrators of my party, of which I have been a member for 45 years."
