The fund investigation became a subject of debate between the ruling party and the opposition in the TBMM General Assembly. During the session where the opposition's call for the establishment of a parliamentary inquiry commission was discussed, AKP Deputy Group Chairperson Özlem Zengin stated that the process should not be handled solely from a financial perspective.
Zengin stated that the public aspect of the investigation must also be clarified, saying, "It must be determined who in the public sector was involved and how." She emphasized that the methods used in the transactions and whether public officials played a role in the process must be brought to light.
Expressing that those found responsible must be held accountable before the judiciary, Zengin called for the disclosure of the list of those mentioned in the investigation. Zengin stated, "I want the entire list to be disclosed. Let this list be disclosed so that everyone can reach peace of mind."
Zengin also mentioned that the issue of establishing a parliamentary inquiry commission could be re-evaluated in the coming days. Deputy Minister of Interior Bülent Turan, regarding the debate, commented, "We must rid ourselves of this mentality."
