CHP calls for street protest for Can Atalay

Following the stripping of Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) Hatay MP Can Atalay's parliamentary status, CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik has called for a protest at the Beşiktaş Pier.

CHP calls for street protest for Can Atalay

The decision of the 3rd Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation regarding TİP Hatay MP Can Atalay, who was sentenced to 18 years in prison in the Gezi Park trial and has not been released despite two rulings of rights violations by the Constitutional Court (AYM), was read in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

Following the reading of the decision, Atalay's parliamentary status was revoked.

CALL FROM CHP

After Atalay's status was revoked, the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency called on citizens to gather at the Beşiktaş Pier at 20:00. The statement issued by the CHP included the following:

“This is a call to all Istanbulites who believe in the constitutional order! We are raising our voices together against the unlawful revocation of Hatay MP Can Atalay's parliamentary status! Tuesday, January 30 (Today) 20:00 – Historic Beşiktaş Pier”
