CHP Deputy Chairman Erhan Adem issues sharp criticism of fresh tea prices

In a statement regarding the fresh tea purchase price set for 2025, CHP Deputy Chairman Erhan Adem expressed that the 25.44 TL price, announced as 'good news' by President Erdoğan, does not meet the expectations of producers. Adem reminded that this price does not include any support premiums and that the 2 TL premium added to last year's 17 TL base price is not being provided this year.

'IT IS MOCKING THE INTELLIGENCE OF THE PRODUCER'

Adem stated that the announced price places a burden on the producer in the face of high increases in basic inputs such as fertilizer, diesel, and labor. 'Creating an image of providing support by playing with numbers is mocking the intelligence of the producer,' said Adem, emphasizing that the rights of tea producers must be delivered in a fair and transparent manner.

Stating that the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry makes decisions from behind a desk instead of seeing the problems of tea producers on the ground, Adem drew attention to the importance of tea for the culture, economy, and future of the Black Sea region.

Stating that justice must be provided to tea producers ahead of the May 14 World Farmers' Day, Adem expressed that as the CHP, they will continue to work for a Turkey where agriculture is declared a strategic sector.
