In information shared by Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya at the AKP Human Rights Training Program regarding Syrian migrants, it was revealed that 729,000 out of the 3 million 103 thousand registered Syrian migrants in Turkey could not be found at their declared addresses.

In a statement made via social media, Murat Bakan described Minister Yerlikaya's remarks as "desperation" and posed the question, "Mr. Yerlikaya, is there anything else being hidden from the public regarding migrants?"

Bakan emphasized that Yerlikaya's expressions reflect the scale of the asylum seeker crisis and the government's indifference toward it. Furthermore, stating that the asylum seeker issue in Turkey has become a national security matter, he reacted by saying, "Even the country's Interior Minister has Syrian asylum seekers registered at his home!"

Murat Bakan recalled that Minister Yerlikaya's statements indicated that 729,000 Syrians were not living at their declared addresses, suggesting that there might be more information being hidden from the public in this situation.

The CHP deputy also questioned when the Ministry of Interior would conduct a closed census and whether biometric data would be collected during this count. Additionally, he stated that counting irregular migrants as regular migrants is an approach aimed at concealing the seriousness of the problem.

Pointing out that biometric data should be collected as in the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum, he asked Yerlikaya, "When will you conduct a closed census regarding how many illegal foreigners are in our country, a number that even you, as the Interior Minister, do not know?"

Bakan also reacted to Yerlikaya by saying, "You must collect biometric data as in the 'EU Pact on Migration and Asylum'!" and added, "We know you have no such plan; you must do this and share this data with the public!"

Expressing that there might be other information hidden from the public and that there should be more transparency on this issue, Bakan said to Interior Minister Yerlikaya, "Faced with the desperation in these statements, I ask once again: Mr. Yerlikaya, is there anything else being hidden from the public regarding migrants?"
